Kansas State Fair is a Little Wild

Author: Gail Leino

So far the Kansas State Fair held each September in Hutchinson, KS is trying to be a little wild for its guests. From celebrity goat milking to pig racing you'll find it hard to ignore the thrills and chills that are going on at the state fair. Visitors looking for a good bargain on the fair can find many deals on meal tickets, general admission tickets and ride tickets online.

Celebrity Goat Milking is a hilarious competition in which local celebrity teams compete to see who can collect the most milk from milking goats. The competition is fierce and some have been know to cry over spilt milk in the arena. You should go see who wins the coveted Golden Goat Award.

If you think you can strong arm your way into it you should head over to sign up for the Arm Wrestling Championship. The contest of wills is held at the Gazebo in Gottschalk Park, but you should try to show up about two hours early to register. Competitors will find that it's just them, the table and the crowd cheering them on to victory.

You just might meet your doppelganger at the annual Kansas State Fair Twins Contest. This contest has only been around for a few years and draws twins like a magnet from all around. Come to the fair on the day the contest is held to see which set of twins look the most alike.

Daily entertainments at the fair always include several of the numerous animal and agricultural judging competitions. You can observe the judges evaluating cute little bunny rabbits or judging a mule/donkey show. There have been chainsaw artists at the fair creating works of art out of logs and the always fun Pig Races.

Visitors to the fair will find an abundance of free parking on the fairgrounds. There are campsites on the fairgrounds but they tend to get taken up so you may wish to check out on of the many RV Parks in the surrounding area. Those looking to stay indoors can find many hotels and a few bed and breakfasts willing to serve your needs.
