Selling Timeshares

Author: Peter Emerson

The main objective of selling timeshares is to make a profit. The two major factors that play a very important role in the sale of timeshares are advertisement and price. If you own timeshares in a popular resort that is in prime shape and in a high demand area, then obviously chances of selling them are good. If the timeshare is not in such great shape, you have to advertise it cheaply on the Internet. Before doing this, you can consult your friends, colleagues, or relatives to see if they may be interested in purchasing it from you. There is a legal limitation that one cannot spend more than $1000 on dinner offerings and gifts for increasing the prospects of sale.

While setting the price, one has to check out the sale prices of other resale timeshares at the same resort either through resale brokers or the classified advertisement section of the newspapers. Classified ads are available on the websites like Prodigy, AOL, and MSN as well. One has to be very careful while selecting an ad company through whom they are going to advertise their timeshare since the company should help the seller in making profit out of the sale of timeshares.

Your sale price should be competitive in regards to other timeshares on the market. Generally, the best prices attract buyers, but depending on the company and the market conditions, timeshares can be sold at 30-50% of the current price of the timeshares of the resort. It is always advisable to choose a company that will expose the timeshares you are going to sell to all the buyer potential buyers in future.

Selling a timeshare can be a difficult process, but it can be profitable and rewarding if done correctly. It is a good idea to make good use of the timeshare while you own it.
