When Do You Enjoy Things the Most?

Author: Sukhbir Singh

It's a very strange concept. When you are in a place for a very long time, you don't really enjoy it. In fact, you might actually start to complain about it. However, when you are about to leave that place, you finally see something beautiful in the place and you actually enjoy your last 2 months there. You see the most that you can and you've never noticed them before.

Life is the very same way. It's only when we are dying that we start to appreciate life. When you have lived for the first 30 years, you don't really think much of it. In fact some people even think that life is a burden to be carried. It is only when you are in the final years of your life that you say, "Hey, where have I been all these years?" How come sunsets and sunrises start becoming interesting and captivating to a dying person while the person who doesn't know when they are going to die would rather just remain asleep. How come people don't do the things with their life that they want to do? What are they waiting for? I guess alot of the people believe mistakenly that along with the birth certificate we also got a guaranteed date when we are going to die. We don't have such a certificate. You might not be here tomorrow; I might not be here tomorrow!

How many people die with regret about the things they haven't done in comparison to the people who lived a fulfilled life? How come people don't realize that they don't really have an identity except the one that they have made up for themselves? We create our own identity and then we make up stories about that identity. If things go well we call it happiness, if things go badly we call them tragedies. But who is there to experience all of this? You are not that identity! When even that identity is created then who is suffering? I am not talking about the big wars but the small petty problems that we worry ourselves over. Why don't we just enjoy life to the fullest? We don't even know what we're living! Wake up people! Wake up to the life that you are living. Life is living life. Your name and your identity are the pictures moving on the screen of your real SELF. That remains unchanged.. Realize that.... You don't have an identity.. drop the stories.. embrace what remains... life = happiness...
