Easily Increase AdSense Revenue

Author: Jason Pullara

There are some implementations of AdSense that make me want to cry: either their ads are very out of place (i.e. in the classical brand-building positions), or they stick out like a sore thumb. The people who run these websites often whine about their click-through-rate and negligible profits. If you're one of the people who doesn't see the advantage of contextual-based revenues, or you don't know how to properly implement it, then read on, because in this article you'll read about my tops ways to increase pay-per-click revenue on your website.

  • Start with tracking. AdSense has multiple "channels" you can define to track your ad block performance, and you should use it! You can best use this tool by making multiple channels for the multiple ad units on your pages; for example, you can have a channel for the advertisements in your navigation, content, and footer panes. By keeping track of the performance of these units you can properly adjust and experiment with your ads so maximize your profits.

  • Integrate into your content. Every ad should blend into your content. By making the advertisements look like your content you can get the user to actually read your ads. If the user finds that the advertisement interests them, they will click. Surfers, thanks to the endless barrage of invasive marketing, have trained themselves to ignore ads, so by blending ads into the content we gets users to actually read, and potentially click, our ads.

  • Match the style of your ads to the style of your website. To take the concept of blending further you should make the ads stand out at little as possible (within the terms of your publisher's terms of service). By making the background and hyperlink colors the same as your website you can further blend your ads into your content.

  • Stay above the fold. The fold is the first half of the page your user visits, which depends on the screen resolution of the user's machine. As of this writing the average screen resolution is 1024x768. By keeping your advertisements above the fold you can almost guarantee that your ads will be seen by the visitors.

  • Increase your traffic. The final, and most important, tip to increasing your AdSense revenue is to increase your traffic. The more eyeballs you get, the more clicks you get. There's a simple ratio you can use, 1:100. That is to say for every 100 visitors, you'll get 1 click. Increase that traffic and you're sure to increase your clicks.

Increasing your AdSense revenue is easy, if you know how. By following these simple tips you can better your click through ratio and increase your profits.
